Special Event:
"The Cost of Cool"
Wednesday, May 13th @ 7:00 pm, Hagerty Hall 180
Description: Cool: Let’s face it, we all want it. Jocks, hipsters, gamers, sci-fi fans, Christians, rebels, musicians… even those who claim a cynical ‘anti-cool’ stance. We strive for it, we lean on it… but “cool” is elusive and constantly changing. Inevitably, from time to time we find ourselves among the uncool- on the outside looking in or doing something we never thought we would. So, what is “cool” really, and who defines it? Why do we desire it? Our goal at this event is to answer these questions and engage in discussion about this pervasive yet hard to define idea of “cool”. We want to challenge our assumptions, and look at the deeper needs for connection, authenticity, community, and acceptance that coolness can mask. Featuring speaker Paul Grant, author of "Blessed Are the Uncool"
